Job Description
Your role as a QA Automation Engineer is to
- Understand product requirements, including expected behaviour in exceptional cases
- write test scripts for repeatableuse
- integrate test scripts into our CI/CD pipelines
- automate production of comprehensive, easy to follow test reports
- investigate and rectify any test failures
- contribute to manual exploratory testing
- assist our support teams to replicate complex issues so that developers can easily fix any bugs
Your overall goal is to automate as much of the testing effort as possible with a minimum remainder of manual testing being required.
Skills Required
- Technical Skills – Require programming skills to write computer code and scripts in common computer languages:
- Primary language is Typescript/Javascript
- Python advantageous
- Prior experience working with Page Object Models
- Suggest /Make framework enhancements to accommodate the scripting needs.
- Analytical skills – Analytically examine bug reports, prioritize necessary tests, and streamline application functions through automated testing processes.
- Attention to detail – Being detail oriented is required as you will test web applications to find ways to improve them and isolate problems.
- Communication skills – Strong oral and written communication skills in English to effectively collaborate with the engineering team and create testing plans and written reports showing errors.
Tools
- Automation testing tools: Playwright (Prior experience in Cypress also considered)
- API testing tools that require strong coding skills to create tests: Postman, REST Assured, RestSharp, jMeter, etc.;
- Continuous Integration tools –Azure DevOps, Jenkins, Bit bucket, Github
- Issue tracking: Azure DevOps
Responsibilities
- Write, design, and execute automated tests by creating scripts that run testing functions automatically.
- Maximize test coverage for the most critical features of the system.
- Determine the priority for test scenarios and create execution plans to implement these scenarios.
- Write documentation for automated processes including test plans, test procedures, and test cases.
- Build test automation frameworks.
- Log and document bugs in the tracking system.
- Set up Continuous Integration.
Besides writing automated tests, Test Automation Engineers can still do manual exploratory testing when they need to understand how functionality manifests itself to the customer.
Qualifications and Certification
- 3-4 years Automation experience is required.
- Experience in product based applications is a must, especially an enterprise B2B product
- Experience with Agile methodology is preferred.
- Experience in Playwright will be highly advantageous. (Cypress also considered)
